Content Writing for SEO
10/19/2009
One of the hardest things to do for good search engine ranking also happens to be one of the most important: Content Writing. For a lot of people there are many reasons why content
writing is not their thing: they aren't interested in writing, they don't feel they are very good at it, they don't have the time, or, the thing that haunts us all, they can't think of good,
relevant articles to write day after day to really push up that search engine ranking.
Well, if there is one thing I've learned over the years reading the content of successful internet marketers and search engine professionals, it is this: articles don't have to be perfect (basic
grammar is hopefully covered) and they don't have to be inspired. Often when people are writing and publishing their work several times a week on the internet, the things they write about tend
to cover just about anything that pops into their head. They ramble, they reiterate what they've already reiterated 20 times before, they tell their life stories over again from different angles,
anything to get original and hopefully relevant content out their on the web time after time.
What you are reading (here, there, almost anywhere) is certainly not inspired work most of the time, not like good fiction or poetry, and it doesn't have to be to get the job done.
And 'original' doesn't mean it has never been
covered before - it doesn't even mean you've never written about the subject before - it just means that article, that particular structure of words, sentences, and paragraphs cannot be found (at
least for the time being) anywhere else on the web.
So don't get all caught up in being inspired or writing great prose...just sit down, start typing, and don't stop until you have an article (editing after is probably a good idea). Do this again and
again, week after week, and pretty soon you're an authority on a subject and people are visiting your site to read all your content, and they will probably never suspect what a struggle it was (or
still is) for you to get all of that information down in words. They won't care, it's not important. The only thing that matters is that you got it done.
